Part of last nights training session

Flips, BUP's and towers of terror with the 48kg kettlebell

Quality is not great as was getting dark and focus a bit iffy.

Finished with some 2 hands pinch (only done a couple of times) 80kg and some 1.9" v bar work upto 100kg

Ukranian Old School Kettlebell Gym

Love this crazy looking 70kg kettlebell and the gym reminds my old school in the 70's, apart from we didn't have weights or kettlebells :)

All good stuff

Baby Inch Dumbbell

Inch dumbbell feats of strength are among my training goals.

To be specific about the goals I have set with my circus dumbbells
I have the follow targets as part of my list of goals

53kg Inch Dumbbell Snatch left and right
67kg Inch dumbbell clean - any hand will do
67kg Inch dumbbell side up press
78kg Inch dumbbell full lock out deadlift - left and right hands

I trained out on the lawn last night for a bit of fun with the small and medium sized dumbbells and came up with pressing the baby Inch on it's end.
it was a great workout finisher after lots of high pulls, grabs and deadlifts

here's the video

Watson Gym Equipment have just announced they are looking into producing their own line of custom kettlebells upto 100kg! Wow!

Imagine a 100kg kettlebell, that would be barmy!

I would highly recommend Watson Gym Equipment to anyone, my experiences are that their gear is finished to a very high standard.

Check out the olympic kettlebell handles they make

Also, they probably do the finest range of unusual bars and strength equipment in the UK

Right where's my cheque book!

Decided to seriously give biofeedback training a whirl today, after speaking with Jason from Shoggoth Basement regarding this he seems to be getting good results so I thought, why not!

I tested trapbar deadlifts, kettlebell clean and jerk, kettlebell snatch, barbell clean and jerk, barbell snatch, barbell squat.(all from my targets list over the next 3-6 months)

Barbell squat test by far the best, barbell clean and and jerk and barbell snatch came out second and third (I used the toe touch method)

So bearing in mind I haven't squatted for months(about 6 and then 6 before that) or properly trained for a few weeks except for my kettlebell lunches due to work issues, I squatted with no wraps or belt and only used some knee sleeves to keep my knees warm.

I expected to do pretty badly on the squat and feel some serious discomfort, but suprisingly squatted heavier than I ever have without a belt or wraps.

I worked from 70kgx10, 100kgx10, 120kgx5, 140kgx5, 160kgx5, 180kg (2x5) and finished off with 200kg x 2 reps RAW except sleeves. Now this is not beast strength or any thing but I'm most impressed I could do this with little training and with no adverse effects. I even felt heavier was possible for a single and who knows with wraps and belt.

Is it because it tested well? Who knows, I'll tell you when I've done some more. There may be something in Bio feedback training

Here's a short video of the squats (no need to mention squat techique or that I weigh as much as the bar)

video

I also worked upto 100kg clean and jerk for 3x6 and barbell snatch 70kg 3x6 and finished off with some one handed light hammer striking

Some recent grip training and kettlebell pressing

Return of the Kettlebell Session

Made a return to kettlebell lunch today with a 10min session with the 32kg kettlebell

My thinking is limiting the session to 10 mins and working as hard as possible, with the aim of hitting the full 10 with snatches with no. break as in GS style with only 1 switch. Initially i will be using several exercises and gradually replace them until I'm doing 1 full snatch session every other day.

One prominent fact with continous snatching is grip endurance so I'll be throwing in plenty of flips to get the grip toughened up.

Todays session was

50 swings alternating hands
20 snatches
20 reverse flips
20 clean and press
20 lateral flips
20 forward flips

all done with the 32kg bell and 10 mins

Dan John Circuit Workout

A warm up for my strongman training session last night turned into an actual training session.

I love All of Dan John's material and have done for many years, I feel a real connection with his material as a former discus thrower myself. (I will be competing in discus throwing and shot putting this year for my local athletics club Scarborough AC.)

What is it that makes Dan John stand out?

If you're familiar with Dan John's training philosphies then you'll know, but to make it concise 'Dan John simplifies training and says shit loads in only a few words hitting the nail on the head everytime'

'If it's important do it everyday' pretty much says it all

For me Dan John's words are like Rocky Music, they make you wanna get up and train.

Anyways, enough blowing smoke up his arse.

I did a training session from Dan John's blog last night as a warm up and ended up smoking myself with just 2 rounds of the following

10 power cleans
10 back squats
10 power snatches
10 front squats
25 crunches

all with a 60kg barbell

After I regained conciousness I went on to do some over head work with a keg(courtesy of homemadegymstuff) sandbags and some trap bar pressing

Here's the Trap Bar Press - weight was 110kg - difficulty level was - fairly difficult
