Sledgehammer training is a very simple but brutal form of fitness training, if you want to build your endurance then it's definitely worth a try.

If you've never tried sledgehammer training before you'll need a sledgehammer (sizes vary greatly from a few pounds to over 100lbs)and an old tyre.

Sledgehammers from 6lb to 16lb are usually available in hardware stores but anything above this and you're getting into a specialised area. Londonkettlebells do them in the UK and Torque Athletic in the US

There are many different techniques and drills for hammer training and Ross Training is a great place for some excellent information

Check out Stepf training with a sledgehammer for speed endurance. Very fast and very fit.

Beast Power and Fitness with Heavy Kettlebells

I've been hitting the heavy kettlebells recently and been loving it to be quite honest.

Here are a couple o' videos to get your head around.

Andy Fitting doing 19 jerks with a 72 kg kettlebell

and Valery Federenko with 60 jerks with a 60kg kettlebell

Both amazing shows of strength and endurance (not to mention skill)

All well and good but no 80kg kettlebell flip ;)

Kettlebell Strength Workouts

80kg Kettlebell Overhead....Cracked!!

When I first got my 80kg bell I thought it would be a long long time before I would flip it or put it overhead, well I've done 'em both in the space of 8 days so I'm chuffed with that. Next is the snatch and some serious grip work for feats to follow.

Check out my video of The Tower of Terror

Just had a comment on this video 'retard strength. great job. watch your head.'

Apologies to anyone who may be offened by this, but I took it as a compliment! It cheered up my otherwise miserable day!

Looked up retard strength on the web and found this explanation on the Urban Dictionary

The inexplicable physical force possessed by the mentally handicapped, even after they have been institutionalized or are incapable of any excercise program. Retard strength is never used for any constructive purpose, and often results in unintentional injury.

Even after he broke out of his restraints and had three guards and a nurse subduing him, he still had enough retard strength to break two chairs and a table.

Maybe it should read:

Even after he broke out of his restraints of his chores at home and work and had three guards and a nurse subduing him, he still had enough retard strength to do the kettlebell tower of terror on some poor school's cricket pitch

Hope you have a great weekend!
