Kettlebell Ladders

For those who have never heard of The Ladder…..

Pavel Tsatsouline swears by this routine. Simple take an exercise (or exercises) and set off doing 1 rep (each side if using kettlebells) then do 2 reps then 3 reps…………… possibly up to 10 reps if you can handle it. That’s going up the ladder.

Now if you’re tough enough go back down the ladder….. 9 reps, 8 reps and so on.

I love using this format for training when I feel like I’m going a bit stale on a standard routine, or I just need to accumulate volume. It’s also great fun (in an odd way) as you can set targets to aim for. If you really wanna bust a gut try getting up and down the ladder.

Up the ladder is 55 reps and up and down is 100 reps. Not bad for a set

Here’s a little workout I do sometimes:

1 rep snatch, 1 rep Clean and Press, 1 rep swing

2 reps snatch, 2 reps Clean and Press, 2 reps swing ………………. And so on

You may want to start with just 1 exercise then add another. This is more of a Ladder Combo and is quite tough.

No matter how exercises you put in your ladder it will be tough as the total reps will keep adding up.

Try it for yourself and reap the benefits
